[See image gallery at www.socophil.org]Pam Otsuka, concertmaster of the Sonoma County Philharmonic, performs widely throughout the greater Bay Area, including stints with the Santa Rosa Symphony, the Ukiah Symphony, the Symphony of the Redwoods, the Rohnert Park Symphony, Cinnabar Theater, the Marin Civic Light Opera Orchestra, and Ceta Symphony in the South Bay. She has soloed with the San Francisco State Orchestra.
In addition to orchestral performances, Ms. Otsuka loves chamber music. In 1988, she founded Sonoma Strings, which has performed extensively in Sonoma and Napa counties, most recently during the Kenwood Depot Chamber Music Series and at the Bach Jam, a yearly event celebrating the works of Johann Sebastian Bach. She has also performed with I Solisti di Sonoma.
Ms. Otsuka also enjoys musical theater and has performed with many groups in the area, including Transcendence Theater, Spreckels Theater, Sixth Street Playhouse, and the Raven Theater. In addition, she is also a conductor in her own right, directing the Windsor String Orchestra, founded in 2014.
Ms. Otsuka studied violin pedagogy with Walter Haderer of the San Francisco State University Suzuki program. She currently serves as strings clinician for the Santa Rosa Junior College and Sonoma State University. She teaches at the Rincon Valley Unified School District and Santa Rosa Symphony’s Summer Music Academy, and maintains private studios in Santa Rosa and Windsor.
